Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Lane Roberts’ is a broad-crowned, medium sized tree bearing shining, maple-like green leaves which turn an intense black crimson-red in autumn. This variety is variety reliable for autumn colour. Â
Position:Â Plant on a moist well drained site preferably with normal to acid conditions. They will tolerate most positions but for the best autumn colour plant in full sun.
Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
