The Ashwood Charitable Trust has nominated
Beth’s Sunflowers as our Charity of the Year 2026.
Beth’s Sunflowers is a local charity established in tribute to Beth, who sadly died of blood cancer in 2018, just two months before her 21st birthday. Their mission is to raise awareness of blood cancer and fund vital research and clinical trials, while continuing to keep Beth’s legacy alive.
Our partnership with Beth's Sunflowers
Our fund-raising will help fund free specialist support groups and free professional counselling sessions for Blood Cancer patients and their families. The money will also help towards projects such as ‘Beth’s Sunflowers in Schools’ which provides all of the necessary equipment for growing Beth’s Sunflowers, with the aim to encourage children to get out in nature, learn about their environment and learn how plants grow whilst keeping Beth’s legacy alive. The project currently runs in Kingswinford and Wall Heath with the aim of reaching more primary schools in the Black Country area.

How does the Charitable Trust raise money for the Charity of the Year?
The Ashwood Charitable Trust supports our Charity of the Year, and its main fundraising for this comes from John’s Garden Open Days. We are also fortunate to receive a number of individual private donations from our generous customers and friends, and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supports our charity in any way, no matter how small.
About the Ashwood Charitable Trust
The Ashwood Charitable Trust was set up in 2020 with the purpose of supporting our Charity of the Year as well as for ‘the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture in all its branches’.

From 2010 to 2019, we are proud to have raised in excess of £240,000 for our nominated charities, helping both national charities including Diabetes UK and the Brain Tumour Charity, as well as local charities such as High Flyers, Action Heart, the Renal Unit Fund at New Cross Hospital and Beacon Centre for the Blind.
