Malus ‘Elk River’ is an unusual form of crab apple.  Single, large, soft pink flowers adorn the branches in spring giving way to bright green ‘mini apples’.  Large, attractive leaves take on excellent autumnal tints.  

Position: Suitable for a wide range of soil types except waterlogged sites, although they are tolerant of shade they do prefer full sun.

Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
