Overview
A lovely deciduous winter flowering shrub. One of the best ‘reds’ witch hazels, its large spidery flowers are a striking brick-red and produced between December and March. Excellent scarlet and orange autumn coloured foliage adds much to its appeal. Robust in growth once established, growing wider than it is high as it reaches maturity.
Position: Requires a cool, moist but well drained neutral to acid soil in partial shade.
Pruning:Â No regular pruning necessary. Any diseased, damaged, congested or crossing shoots. Shoots that are growing in unwanted directions can also be pruned out late winter or early spring.
