Acer platanoides ‘Crimson King’ is a fast growing, spreading tree with lime green, red tinged leaves in spring.  The large, dark purple-red summer foliage go on to create a striking autumn display.  Will tolerate semi-shade.

Position: Requires a rich moist humus rich but well drained soil in a position sheltered from sun and strong winds.

Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
