Overview

A beautiful fastigiate tree that is conspicuous at all times, but most especially in autumn when the foliage turns golden yellow and crimson. 

Best on humus rich moist soil, through will grown in any soil that is not chalky in nature.

Liquidambar styraciflua Slender Silhouette

  • Tree of modest size- narrow, columnar habit
  • Maple-like green leaves in the summer
  • Corky bar- Brilliant orange/red autumn leaf colour
  • Non-evergreen
  • Easy to grow- Low mainteance- Hardy

Position: Plant in any summy open position. Prefers moist but well drained soil. Water (one bucket at a time) untill established.

Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
