Overview

An architectural evergreen plant with dark green leathery, divided leaves. The clusters of hanging green flowers edged with purple-brown last from January through to June. Our native ‘stinking hellebore’ is so named as the foliage gives off an odour, but only when crushed!

Position: Prefers a well-drained fertile soil in partial shade, sheltered from cold winds.

Cultural advice: Remove old faded flower stems after flowering, unless you require the seed, to encourage next year’s new growth.
