Overview
(H. niger x H. lividus) A compact, bushy evergreen hybrid with marbled, sometimes veined foliage. Small clusters of cream flowers flushed with various shades of pink, which deepen with age, appear from January to March.
Helleborus x ballardiae is a slightly tender variety so we advise growing it in a patio pot and keeping it in a cold, light frost-free porch, greenhouse or conservatory for the winter. As the weather warms, it will need a sheltered position in semi-shade outside, returning it to a frost-free environment in late Autumn. Give it a nutrient-rich, free-draining compost.
