Overview

A charming deciduous species, similar to H.viridis, which can be found growing in the wild in the UK, Belgium, Germany and Spain. It bears nodding dark green flowers (3.5cm diameter), which appear in clusters on long stems just above the foliage. It differs from H.viridis in that it has smaller leaves, serrated towards the tip.

Position: Very tolerant of most soils. They prefer a sheltered position in semi shade with a rich, moist free draining soil.

Cultural advice:  Remove old leaves in late December. Remove old faded flower stems after flowering, unless you require the seed, to encourage next year’s new growth.
