Amethyst Beauty is an extremely floriferous variety producing deep purple flowers from top to bottom of the plant. Foliage is slightly sparse, so it is recommended to plant as a companion with other clematis, roses or similar sized shrubs.

This is a Raymond Evison Clematis and part of the Patio & Garden range. These varieties are ideal for covering walls, archways, trellis or pergolas. They can also be used in larger container/obelisk displays. Typically, they grow to a height of 1.6m to 2m (5ft – 7ft). This plant is protected by plant breeders’ rights.

Clematis Amethyst Beauty

  • Planting: Clematis prefer deep, rich soil that remains moist but well-drained. They require a sunny position, with their roots in the shade of other plants. Keep it well watered during its first Spring and Summer.
  • Pruning Group 2: Cut back to the framework of old wood in February, leaving shoots with healthy buds. Prune again after the first flush of flowers to encourage a second flush. Cut back to large buds or strong side shoots.
  • Care: Rootgrow (beneficial mycorrhizal beneficial fungi) sprinkled on the roots prior to planting will aid root development. Clematis are hungry plants and benefit from regular feeding with Vitax Clematis Feed.
  • Support: Requires a framework to grow on such as a trellis, obelisk or a pergola. Tie in young shoots using a soft tie such as Flexi-tie.
