Berberis thunbergii ‘Red Chief’ is a compact bushy shrub, with deep glossy red foliage, providing excellent autumn colour. Masses of pale straw yellow flowers are produced in April, followed by bright red berries. Very tolerant but best in full sun. Prune out old wood in late autumn or winter.
