Pyrus elaeagnifolia ‘Silver Sails’ is an excellent silver foliage tree with good flowering form and producing small ornamental fruit in the autumn. The green-silver leaves are shaped like boat sails. Large, pure white flowers with red anthers emerge in March.
Position:Â Enjoys most soil types and are extremely tolerant of drought. Full sun.
Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
