Introduction

Ashwood Nurseries is traditional working plant nursery and garden centre situated in a rural location, where many of the plants on offer are grown on the premises. Admission to the centre and car parking are free.We are open throughout the year with ample parking on site and easy access to facilities for the disabled. Several manual wheelchairs are available in the Garden Shop and the Gift Shop to use free of charge, but be aware of some gentle slopes on site when using these. All automatic and manual doors are wide enough to allow wheelchair access and there are no steps. Seats are available around the site which includes the following:

  • Large plant nursery, garden centre & garden shop
  • Greenhouse sales areas
  • Nursery Show Garden and Children’s Play Area
  • Tea Room (90 indoor, 50 outdoor)
  • Quality gift shop

Our friendly staff have a wealth of experience, and are able to offer free advice on all horticultural topics.

John’s Garden: The nursery owner opens his adjacent private garden to the public on specific Open Days with all proceeds being donated to charity. Most parts of the garden are suitable for wheelchair access in dry weather, but some difficulty may be encountered in very wet or frosty conditions on the extensive lawned area. A canal borders the garden  and there is a deep pond so children must be supervised at all times. We are very sorry but dogs are no longer permitted in John’s Garden.

The Wildlife Garden: This is situated adjacent to John’s Garden and is open to the public on John’s Garden Open Days, but only when the weather and ground conditions permit. Access  is from John’s Garden and via a steep incline: sturdy shoes are essential. Children must be supervised at all times and there is currently no disabled access to the meadow. We are very sorry but dogs are no longer permitted in The Wildlife Meadow.

John’s Garden is private and opens to the public on specific days, when an entrance charge is made in aid of charity. Signs on the car parks and entrances clearly indicate when the garden is open and dates are published annually on the website, and in promotional literature.

The Gift Shop car park is lit at night.
