Fruit is produced on the previous year's shoots.  Tie in new shoots - these will flower and fruit in the second year.  Cut away all fruiting canes after harvest and replace them with new vigorous shoots and the most vigorous of the older ones.  Cut back weak and damaged shoots in Autumn.  In Spring apply a general fertiliser.

Plant 1.5m (5ft) apart in rows 1.5m (5ft) apart. Plant in an open sunny or lightly shaded spot. Prefers a moist but well drained fertile soil. Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball or pot. Mix a soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
