A love letter to a single genus, My World of Hepaticas comprehensively documents a lifetime’s work studying, breeding and growing these fascinatingly irresistible plants. For anyone who has a passion for hepaticas or who would like to become more familiar with this enchanting genus, this book is essential reading.
Beautifully illustrated and rich with exquisite photographs, it is written by John Massey, owner of Ashwood Nurseries. His in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of the subject comes to the fore, the book outlining the best cultural methods for each species in order to achieve the perfection which every serious grower should aim for. In addition to the description of each species, there are detailed descriptions of many cultivars, both old and new, information about their origins as well as detailed botanical descriptions and scientific studies by Tomoo Mabuchi.
It is also John’s personal travelogue which visits little known locations and introduces many enthusiasts from around the world who share a common interest in hepaticas. There are chapters on exhibiting at shows including the world famous Chelsea Flower Show in London. Above all else, it is an engaging, personal journey with many diversions along the way, making it an easy read whilst at the same time instilling a wealth of practical knowledge.

About the Author:
John Massey has had a life-long interest in plants and horticulture. Without any formal horticultural training, he acquired Ashwood Nurseries at an early age and, under his guidance, it has grown to become a mecca for plant enthusiasts both in the UK and around the world. Just over twenty years ago, he began the development of ‘John’s Garden’ at Ashwood which he has opened for charity for many years. He has also featured on television on numerous occasions.
