Cytisus battandieri is an usual and interesting tree with eye-catching flowers, pineapple scented, cone-shaped blooms which appear in July.  Semi-evergreen and erect in habit, the leaves have an attractive silver sheen.  This beautiful tree can be trained against a wall or planted as a small specimen.

Position: Suitable for a wide range of soil types, but for the best results and leaf colour plant on poor lightly sandy soil in full sun or light shade.

Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
