Overview
An evergreen climber with narrow lance-shaped leaves. Clusters of small, blue, nodding bell-shaped flowers appear in summer and continues flowering into the autumn. During good years, flowers are followed by small purple berries. Slow growing, prefers a sunny position.

This is a moderately vigorous climber, part of (Pruning Group 12).
Pruning: Prune side shoots back to 3 or 4 buds of the main framework. This helps produce a more compact growing habit and helps encourage flower growth in shortened shoots. Remove and dead or weak growth.
For plants that flower on the previous years’ growth: prune annually after flowering. For plants that flower on the current years’ growth: prune in late winter or early spring.
Cultural information: Grow in fertile, humus-rich soil, which must be moist but well-drained as they dislike being waterlogged and dry. For better flowers, plant in a sunnier position. For stronger foliage, plant in a slightly shadier position.
Sollya is half hardy and requires a minimum temperature of -5°C (23°F), so it is best grown over an obelisk in a patio container that can be moved indoors for winter protection.
Support: May need new growth tying into place, but generally will grow in a neat habit. Thread new growth into place whilst it is still flexible to keep it neat and tidy. Suitable for growing over archways, trellis and on walls.
