Overview
Rosa ‘Frilly Cuff’ produces cerise fully double blooms from deep red buds with a delicate apple fragrance.
Named for Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
This ‘Classic’ modern shrub rose was bred by the Chelsea gold medal winning nurseryman Peter Beale MBE.
Modern Shrub Roses are vigorous, resilient and typically repeat-flowering from June onwards.Â
Position:Â Give them an open sunny position and any deep well-drained soil including clay.Â
Cultivation:Â They need plenty of nutrients so add Bonemeal and garden compost or well-rotted manure when planting. Rootgrow (beneficial mycorrhizal beneficial fungi) sprinkled on the roots will aid root development. Use a rose fertiliser such as Toprose during the growing season.
Pruning:Â Newly planted Modern Shrub roses need little initial pruning other than a light trim and the removal of any dead, diseased, rubbing and crossing stems. Once established maintain a balanced framework by reducing strong new growth in early March by up to one-third of its length. Shorten strong side shoots to two or three buds. Deadhead regularly in summer. Mature plants benefit from removal of some of the older main stems back to the base as this encourages vigorous new shoots from the base that will flower the following summer.
