An early season variety with strong stems that can be forced once the crowns reach a reasonable size. Stout stems of fine flavour. Good ordinary garden soil to which generous amounts of organic matter have been added. Remove any flower stems that occur. Thrives in full sun and a moisture retentive soil when growing strong in spring and summer although they will tolerate partial shade,
