Overview

This is probably one of the best known of herbaceous peonies and certainly one of the most distinctive. It is aptly named, its large bowl-shaped blooms, formed by the bright pink guard petals with a central mass of lemony-cream petaloids, will bring the wow factor to any border.
An excellent specimen plant for the middle of a border.

Paeonia lactiflora ‘Bowl of Beauty’ is happiest in a well-drained loamy soil that doesn’t get too dry, in a sunny position or very light shade.
It will grow on a clay soil as long as it doesn’t get waterlogged and plenty of organic matter is added.
Give it plenty of space to develop as it grows as wide as it is high.
Deadhead after flowering. In early spring apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch with well-rotted compost or manure.
