Overview
Large fragrant primrose yellow cup shaped flowers in April or May, one of the best of the yellow magnolias, well-deserving of its RHS Award of Merit.
Planting: Choose a spot which is away from a frost pocket and is sheltered from northerly and easterly winds. Make sure that your chosen site is large enough, as some Magnolias grow quite large. Any reasonable garden soil will be suitable, but many varieties dislike chalky soils. Add plenty of peat or soil improver to the soil and avoid planting too deeply.
Pruning:Â Not necessary, but remove any dead wood or unwanted branches after flowering.
