A charming magnolia which produces a profusion of creamy yellow starry stellata-type flowers in early spring. ideal for a smaller garden becoming broadly pyramidal as it matures. Requires a sheltered position in sun or dappled shade.
Planting: magnolias require a sunny or semi-shaded spot that is away from a frost pocket and is sheltered from northerly and easterly winds. Make sure that your chosen site is large enough, as magnolias need space to develop and reach their full potential. Any reasonable deep garden soil will be suitable, including clay soils, but avoid shallow chalky soils, soils which are excessively dry or soils prone to waterlogging. Add plenty of garden compost or soil improver to the soil and take care not to plant too deeply.
Pruning: not necessary, but remove any dead wood or unwanted branches immediately after flowering.
