Magnolia ‘Daphne’
£35.00
Overview
Arguably one of the the deepest yellow magnolias, long tipped golden yellow petals opening into broad cup-shaped flowers, becoming more abundant as the plant matures. A deciduous hybrid between Magnolia ‘Honeybee’ and ‘Gold Crown’ with a narrow upright habit, making it suitable for a smaller sheltered garden.

Planting: magnolias require a sunny or semi-shaded spot that is away from a frost pocket and is sheltered from northerly and easterly winds. Make sure that your chosen site is large enough, as magnolias need space to develop and reach their full potential. Any reasonable deep garden soil will be suitable, including clay soils, but avoid shallow chalky soils, soils which are excessively dry or soils prone to waterlogging. Add plenty of garden compost or soil improver to the soil and take care not to plant too deeply.
Pruning: not necessary, but remove any dead wood or unwanted branches after flowering.
