Overview
Arguably the deepest yellow magnolia to date, long tipped golden-yellow petals open into broad cup-shaped flowers, eventually developing into a handsome tree of upright habit. This fine selection is a hybrid between Magnolia ‘Honeybee’ and ‘Gold Crown’.
Planting:Â Choose a spot which is away from a frost pocket and is sheltered from northerly and easterly winds. Make sure that your chosen site is large enough, as magnolias need room to develop. Any reasonable acid to neutral garden soil will be suitable as long as it’s not too dry; bear in mind that most varieties dislike shallow chalky soils. Add plenty of peat or soil improver to the soil and avoid planting too deeply.
Pruning:Â Not necessary, but remove any dead wood or unwanted branches after flowering.
