Overview
Heucheras are highly prized for their low mounds of decorative coloured semi-evergreen foliage, adding contrast and harmony to any planting scheme. Heuchera ‘Green Spice’ has ruffled leaves in silver green shades, edged dark grey, contrasting beautifully with conspicuous purple veins. Tall sprays of tiny white flowers in late Spring and orange tinted foliage in Autumn are an added bonus.
Heucheras enjoy a moist but well drained soil in a a position that gets some sun for just part of the day. They don’t like very hot, dry situations or dense shade.
They are also suitable for growing in containers on a lightly shaded patio.
Their foliage remains during Winter and tired foliage can be removed in Spring.
Apply a generous 5-7 cm (2-3 in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the crown of the plant in Spring.
Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early Autumn and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil.
