Overview
A really popular herb, whose onion flavoured leaves can be used to enhance a wide range of recipes. Chives also make an attractive garnish, and the pretty summer flowers are a firm favourite with bees.
Pick the leaves as required during the growing season. They can be stored for up to a week in the fridge – seal them in an airtight bag
Best grown in a rich, moist fertile soil in full sun with good drainage.
Planting: water thoroughly, before planting approx 30cm (12ins) apart. Keep moist until established, and water generously during dry spells.
