Overview

The stalks and the bulb of the fennel plant are highly prized in the kitchen. The flavour is rich, complex and slightly like that of celery. The feathery foliage can be used for garnishing and seasoning.

Pick leaves as required during the growing season. Save harvested seeds in an airtight container. Wash stalks and bulbs thoroughly before using.

Best grown in a rich, moist, fertile soil in a bright and sunny position.

Planting: water thoroughly, before planting approx 60cm (24ins) apart. Keep moist until established, and water generously during dry spells.
