We are offering very small numbers of unnamed double blue hepaticas Hepatica nobilis Double Blue Group. These perfect fully double mid blue flowers are all very similar, some of them could even be the same. I was given them by the late Peter Hansen from Denmark, he was a great plantsman with the perfect “nose” for finding that special plant. This is the first year I have divided and offered these exciting double blue hepaticas.
I am growing them under the following code numbers: 13943, 13944, 13945, 13946, 13950, 13951, 13952. They are all excellent, but I have decided to name 13946 after Peter, Hepatica nobilis ‘Peter Hansen’ to me it is the most special and standout selection, it has a tighter central boss and is just a little darker blue. Peter was a very special person, a great plantsman, who is sadly missed. Flowering during Feb, March. Height: 10-15cm

Hepatica nobilis should be planted on a cool, well-drained slope in a light ‘fluffy’ soil rich in leaf mould. It is essential that they are exposed to early spring sunshine, but they must receive plenty of shade immediately after flowering and especially during the heat of the summer. They will thrive under deciduous trees and shrubs or in crevices in the rock garden, performing best where there is good humidity. They respond well to a top-dressing of leaf-mould in autumn and an annual feed of fish, blood and bone in late winter. Remove old leaves just before flowering.
