Hacquetia epipactis (now known as Sanicula epipactis) is an unusual little plant for shady borders or rock gardens. It grows almost at ground level, producing a succession of green bracts, with a central cluster of tiny yellow flowers, from late winter to early spring. These are followed by attractive emerald-green leaves
Hacquetia epipactis (now known as Sanicula epipactis) is an unusual little plant for shady borders or rock gardens. It grows almost at ground level, producing a succession of green bracts, with a central cluster of tiny yellow flowers, from late winter to early spring. These are followed by attractive emerald-green leaves.
It’s a clump-forming perennial that spreads slowly by short rhizomes. It needs a humus-rich soil in partial to full shade. Protect from slugs and snails in Spring, and avoid disturbing its roots when dormant.
