Overview
A charming Spring-flowering plant, bearing a profusion of yellow flowers in April, displayed against attractive mottled leaves. Clumps up well and seeds around the garden.
Erythroniums are beautiful early Spring-flowering woodland plants which grow from bulbs. They thrive in the cool shade of deciduous trees or shrubs on a good deep loamy soil that is moist but free-draining. They will tolerate sandy or clay soils if plenty of organic matter is added to a good depth. They are dormant from early summer onwards so it’s a good idea to mark where they are planted.
