Overview
A rhizomatous herbaceous perennial with glossy, rounded leaves up to 45cm in width, turning red in autumn. Clusters of pale pink or white flowers are borne on tall stems before the leaves. It forms a dome-shaped mound and makes a bold statement especially by the poolside. A moisture-retentive soil is essential for its success.
Darmera is a vigorous perennial forming a large clump of long-stalked, large rounded leaves attached to the stalk in the middle, with rounded clusters of star-shaped white or pink flowers on tall stems. Plant in damp soil in full sun or partial shade.
