Overview
A delightful daphne, very free-flowering and with good vigour, ‘Cheriton’ is a compact selection that produces an abundance of large, fragrant rich rosy purple flowers in Spring, often with a second flush in Summer. Glossy green evergreen foliage and a low dome-shaped habit, eventually growing much wider than it is high so allow space for it to develop.
Daphne is a captivating and diverse genus that is prized more than anything for the exquisite and unforgettable fragrance of its beautiful flowers. As many are repeat-flowering, a small collection of daphnes will provide you with a succession of flowers and scent throughout the year.
Cultivation: There are two main criteria that are essential to the successful cultivation of daphnes in the garden: careful watering in their early years and a sharply-drained, well-aerated soil which is moisture retentive. Most daphnes are happy in alkaline, neutral or slightly acid soils. Best in sunny, well-drained situations and avoid areas of very high rainfall.
