Excellent compact tree with glossy oval foliage, showy fruits and autumn tints.
Crataegus persimilis ‘Prunifolia” makes an eye-catching tree, small and rounded in habit. Shiny, oval leaves turn rich colours in autumn and red, long-lasting berries further enhance this attractive tree. Â
Position: Suitable for most soil types and positions although they will tolerate shade for the best performance plant in full sun. Does particularly well on chalk soil.
Pruning: Thin some of the branches to encourage new growth up to a quarter of the branches can removed each year. It is advisable to carry this out during the summer as it will cut down on any risk of disease entering the pruning cuts.
