Cornus controversa is slow-growing and, in time, makes a most beautiful small tree or large shrub with a distinctive yet graceful tiered habit. The leaves of this selection are attractively variegated, dominant gold edged mid green leaves. In summer, clusters of small, white flowers appear on the branches.

It is a perfect tree for patient gardeners and is well suited to small gardens. In time it will make a large shrub or small tree. It enjoys sun or dappled shade and any fertile, well-drained soil.
