Overview
Actinidia kolomikta is a large, vigorous, deciduous climber with twining stems. It is prized as a foliage plant, its heart-shaped leaves leaves boldly splashed with white and pink on mature specimens. Small white flowers are produced on established plants, male and female flowers are borne on separate plants. Plant in full sun on a South or West facing wall to help develop the leaf colours.
- Planting:Â Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Actinidia kolomikta can be planted against a wall or grown as a stand-alone shrub.
- Aspect:Â Plant in full sun on a South or West facing wall to help develop the leaf colours. Must be sheltered from cold winds and severe frost.
- Care:Â Tie in main stems on to a series of horizontal wires or strong trellis. In late winter or early spring remove any crossing, diseased or overcrowded stems using sharp secateurs. Feed in spring with a slow-release fertiliser.
