Overview
An upright herbaceous perennial that has flattened clusters of small, daisy-like flower-heads in shades of rose lilac flowers which fade slightly with age to a lavender pink with a creamy white eye in summer, all above green fern-like feathery foliage.
A valuable addition to any border with its long lasting flat heads of flowers that attract many beneficial insects including hoverflies and butterflies. Flowers fade very slowly keeping some of their colour until the flower head eventually dies, making them a perfect choice for florists as cut flowers for the vase arrangements. They can also be dried. Removing fading flower heads regularly, combined with a high potash feed, will encourage new flower stems.
Achilleas are happiest in a free-draining soil in full sun.
