Overview
A vigorous plant with large, glossy foliage in spring that is pinnately lobed.
Tall racemes of white flowers with mauve-purple bracts are produced from June-September.
Acanthus will make a good choice as a vigorous and imposing specimen plant for a border that’s not too hot in summer, in sun or dappled shade. Give it plenty of room to spread and deep mulch in the autumn to protect from cold winds and frosts.
Cut back old stems after flowering.
