Ashwood Nurseries First Specialist Plant Fair
We are happy to report the first Ashwood Specialist Plant Fair has been a huge success!
On Saturday 25th April 2026 John opened his garden to visitors for our Ashwood Nurseries first Specialist Plant Fair. The event proved hugely popular, for both regulars and newcomers, with 998 visitors joining us in the gardens. Plus the weather couldn’t have been better, with wall to wall sunshine and a warm 20°C.
The nursery opened as usual from 8:30am and customers were already turning up to claim their parking spaces, some travelling hours to get here. The queue started to build from 9:30am, reaching all the way back to the tea room by 10am. John viewed the crowds, and after greeting some familiar faces who were first in the queue, he opened the gates to our first specialist plant fair. Visitors entered the plant fair via Adam’s Garden, where they were welcomed by the first few plant stalls.
After a walk through Adam’s Garden, visitors walked through John’s Garden down to the main lawn for more stalls. The garden was looking immaculate thanks to the work of the garden team. Visitors were free to enjoy the garden at their leisure whilst attending the plant fair. The gardeners were on hand to assist the visitors during the day.
The nurseries who joined us are some of the best growers in the country, and they had fabulous displays of specialist plants on offer. We even saw a familiar face as Connie, one of our previous Adam Greathead Award trainees, was helping out at the Great Dixter Nurseries stand.
As part of the event we invited a few charity stalls, including Beth’s Sunflowers: Ashwood Nurseries chosen Charity of the Year for 2026. Beth’s Sunflowers is a local charity set up in tribute of Beth who died of blood cancer in 2018, you can read more about them here.
The volunteers created a fabulous sunny display featuring young plants of Beth’s sunflowers, along with many other goodies. We were also joined by other charities; Midlands Air Ambulance and Guide Dogs UK, with their own stalls, spreading awareness and raising money for their good causes.
We would like to say thank you to all the nurseries who were able to come for our first plant fair! We hope everyone who visited had an enjoyable day and were able to discover some new treasures. And a BIG THANK YOU to all of the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make sure the event ran smoothly.
