Ashwood Nurseries are to exhibit hepaticas at the RHS London Plant Fair on Friday and Saturday, February 20th and 21st. Held in the RHS Horticultural Halls Central London, this is the first in the season of the RHS London Shows and it’s always a very special gardening event.

The RHS Lawrence Hall will be home to a wealth of early spring plants exhibited by some of the UK’s top nurserymen and growers, with plenty of advice and inspiration on offer. There will be a wide range of bulbs and plants to buy including choice snowdrops. This is a show in two parts and, in the RHS Lindley Hall, the spotlight is on potatoes. Visitors can learn about the many different potato cultivars as well as browse and buy a wide variety of seed potatoes and onions.

Ashwood’s plant exhibit in Lawrence Hall will display hepaticas in a natural setting of companion plants. We have a long record of Gold Medals for our exhibits at RHS Flower Shows so this puts us under a lot of pressure to perform well: it’s hugely rewarding but, at the same time, it’s a nerve-wracking experience for us and we always have all fingers crossed!

Ashwood is one of only a few nurseries in the UK specialising in hepaticas and is unique in that it is the only UK nursery that supplies fresh hepatica seed. Nursery owner John Massey VMH is widely regarded as being one of the UK’s leading experts on hepaticas: he has his own private plant collection and has travelled to China, Japan, Korea, Kyrgysztan, North America and Europe to see them in the wild.

If you would like the opportunity to see some of the wonderful plants from John’s private collection as well as to purchase young hepatica plants (including rare or ‘hard to find’ varieties), then the RHS London Plant Fair is an occasion not to be missed.
