Avoid walking on turf unless it is necessary and soil conditions permit especially after heavy rain. Keep the lawn aerated, free of dead thatch, falling leaves and debris. During mild dry conditions, a light topping with a lightweight mower may be desirable, allowing the dew to dry before cutting the lawn and collecting any trimmings. Brush off worm casts before mowing the lawn.

This is the ideal month for checking your mower over, checking all electrical parts, cables and switches on electric mowers, carrying out repairs and ordering any spare parts that are required. Alternatively find a reputable lawn mower service engineer to carry out the service for you, bearing in mind that you will need your mower back in action by Spring.
