A lovely lacecap variety with very deep rosey red florets on alkaline soil. The fertile center flowers are generally cream. Best grown on alkaline soils, in acid soil it tends to produce muddy mauve coloured blooms. A medium shrub with a robust costitution.

Also known as Hydrangea macrophylla 'Möwe'

Position: They perform best when given a shady, cool moist root run and a sheltered aspect.

Maintenance: Little pruning required just simply thin out old stems and remove the dead flowers to a pair of plump green buds in late spring.
