This is an early flowering evergreen shrub, part of (Pruning Group 8).

Group 8 plants do not require any regular pruning and should only be pruned as and when needed. Remove diseased, damaged and dead material and thin out any crowded stems.

Cultural information: Winter and early spring flowering shrubs are best left be, and only prune to remove dead heads and improve the shape. Some evergreens need a hard prune to help improve flowering, and this should be done as soon as the flowers have finished. However bare in mind you will lose any autumn and winter berries. It needs a light garden soil, in a sunny spot, against a South or West-facing wall. Keep well watered until established.
