Butterflies provide one of the most exquisite visual experiences to be found in the countryside, and spotting them is a simple pleasure for designer and lepidopterist Emma Bossons. Her solo collection of sensational butterflies incorporates the rare Camberwell Beauty with upper sides of dark-reddish purple, margins of creamy yellow and delicate blue spots hidden among clusters of willow, to the more common Red Admiral, Tortoiseshell and Peacock butterflies on a buddleia bush. The Collection takes the viewer into a secret world, where butterflies dart in a colourful parade of fragile beauty. You may soar into the sky on the tail of a proud Red Admiral who darts through one design with a splash of scarlet and white on his velvet black wings. Emma is particularly fond of the orange tipped butterfly, which flits between ladies smock and meadow flowers. In fields of edelweiss and wild muscari flowers the designer's swallowtail butterfly glides elegantly in the breezes of late Spring. And what sparked off Emma's butterfly haven? A walk down Messuage Lane near Macclesfield, a government conservation project, where the designer saw a dance of purple Hairstreak butterflies, now timelessly netted by Emma in dandelion clocks and clover.
