This is a vigorous climber, part of (Pruning Group 11) that produces flowers on previous year's growth, and sometime on the current years growth.

Group 11 climbers flower on growth from the previous year. They should only be pruned after flowering to keep the plant neat and tidy. If flowers occur on the current years growth, prune in winter or early spring, only trimming back what is necessary. No regular pruning is required.

Cultural information: Grow in fertile, humus-rich soil, which must be moist but well-drained as they dislike being waterlogged and dry. For better flowers, plant in a sunnier position. For stronger foliage, plant in a slightly shadier position.

Support: Self-twining, so only basic support is needed. Thread new growth into place whilst it is still flexible to keep it neat and tidy. Suitable for growing over archways, trellis and on walls.
