Essential for any butterfly garden! Native shrub and larval food plant of the Brimstone butterfly. Plant a single shrub in a sunny spot and in spring any female Brimstone in your area should find your plant. Keep pruned to below 1.5 metres (5 feet) for best chance of egg laying as younger plants are preferred.

Small nectar-rich flowers in spring followed by black poisonous berries. Yellow autumn colour. Deciduous. Height 3m (9ft) in ten years if unpruned.

Please don't use pesticides on your plant as this will kill brimstone caterpillars.

For every Alder Buckthorn sold we will donate £1 to Butterfly Conservation West Midlands.
