× Cuprocyparis leylandii 'Gold Rider' is a very bright, intensely yellow sport of much less vigour than the traditional green form and probably the best leylandii variety to appear for hedging or screening. Lovely bright yellow foliage is maintained all year in full sun to part shade although a sunny position ensures a bright colour. It makes a dense hedge. Pruning is vital to keep control and should be carried out once or twice a year between April-September to maintain the desired height, width and density. Plant 3ft (90cm) apart, ensures a close-knit screen in 3 years. Height 4m x 1.2m (12ft x 4ft) in 10 years (untrimmed).
