Travellers’ Choice recognizes businesses that earn consistently great user reviews, collected in a single year from travellers around the world on Tripadvisor. The awards take into account the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and, as Tripadvisor says: ‘the hallmark of winners is and will continue to be remarkable service and quality experiences for travellers.’

About Ashwood Nurseries:

We are a traditional plant nursery and garden centre in the West Midlands, situated in a canal-side setting in lovely open countryside. You can find inspiration in our beautifully maintained plant sales areas and glasshouses, wander through the garden shop and, if you need some friendly advice, the experienced Ashwood team are on hand to help. There’s a rather special gift shop and a delightful tea room overlooking attractive landscaped gardens. Everything, in fact, to make a perfect day out!

About John’s Garden:

John’s Garden’ is a wonderful three acre private garden created by nursery owner John Massey VMH. Informal borders, island beds and woodland dells are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.

A sample of the reviews:

‘This is a local garden centre and I visit many times. Lovely choice of plants for all aspects and tastes. Tea room is always busy as meals are very good and the selection of cakes to die for. I visited John Massey’s (the owner’s) private garden for the first time recently on one of his open days. What a garden! Three acre garden by the Staffordshire/Worcestershire canal, lovely setting.’

‘Wow, what a wonderful garden. Beautiful planting and good ideas to do in our own gardens. We had the pleasure of seeing John for a quick chat. The facilities in the nursery are also first class. Had nice afternoon tea in restaurant, the scones were amazing. The gift shop had unusual things to purchase, not the run of the mill stuff you often see. As for the plants, so many to look at, all top quality at reasonable prices. We came home with the car bursting. Such a lovely day, despite the rain. We plan to return again next year. Wish it was nearer, the best garden we have ever visited.’

‘What a fantastic place. One of the most beautiful gardens we have ever visited. The planting and structure are perfection itself. The garden centre is of a similar standard. The plants are all excellent and the layout is great. Can’t wait to visit again. Just wish we lived closer and were able to visit more often.’

‘First visit to this wonderful garden centre. amazing gardens. Parents appreciated being able to sit for periods on the benches throughout the nursery. Plants very good value and all at their best, we were spoilt for choice. Tea room lovely and very reasonable, cakes looked gorgeous. Garden shop lovely and we came away with numerous items. Will go back soon. Highly recommend to all.’
