This special Sunday Open Day is supporting the National Gardens Scheme. Spectacular displays of grasses, herbaceous perennials, daphnes and clematis provide a wealth of colour while a selection of Hydrangea aspera, arborescens, paniculata and quercifolia are the undisputed stars of the show. The tropical border will be full of dramatic foliage and exotic hot colours and, in the South African border, the kniphofias, agapanthus, eucomis and diascias will be blooming. A ruin garden on the patio is a unique feature and well worth a look while the stumpery, planted with a stunning collection of ferns, is a dramatic new addition to the garden . As always, there will be some wonderful summer pots throughout the garden.
John’s Garden’ at Ashwood Nurseries is a wonderful three acre private garden created by nursery owner John Massey VMH. Informal borders, island beds and woodland dells are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. It is a ‘plantsman’s garden’ that has an abundance of rare plants as well as many familiar favourites. This is a garden for all seasons with magnificent collections of trees, shrubs, and conifers adding to the interest all year round.
