STOP PRESS: Meet Roy Lancaster in the garden this afternoon! Come and enjoy the magical atmosphere of John’s Garden in early spring, with its superb collections of spring flowering subjects including fine displays of tulips, narcissi, erythroniums, trilliums and snakeshead fritillaries.The hepaticas should be in flower, the lewisia wall will be a riot of colour and the rock garden will be full of interest with many choice and rare treasures to be enjoyed. John’s amelanchier collection and the Crab Apple walk will be putting on a spectacular show while the Anemone pavonina meadow is truly a sight not to be missed.
‘John’s Garden’ at Ashwood Nurseries is a wonderful three acre private garden created by nursery owner John Massey VMH. Informal borders, island beds, woodland dells, a fern stumpery and wildlife meadow* are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. It is a ‘plantsman’s garden’ that has an abundance of rare plants as well as many familiar favourites.
